Quarter 4…..what? Where did the year go?

After a summer full of holidays, with most of the team being in and out of the office traveling, seeing friends and family and experiencing things all over the world, we are back and ready to finish out the year with a bang. We’ve had team members in Zanzibar, Marbella, Germany, Croatia, the US, and one who visited six countries in Europe over a five week span.

With the temperatures beginning to creep down, Dubai and its outdoor season is upon us. Concert schedules are being announced, inquires for outside events are coming in, and everyone in town is thrilled to be saying goodbye to the brutal summer humidity. Although the summer is a bit slower here in Dubai, it certainly doesn’t stop the continued development and launches of new projects.

We hope you’ve all had the opportunity to get out of the office for a bit this summer, spend some quality time with friends and family, and recharge for the final push ahead. Whether it was at home or somewhere else around the world, we hope you had as good as summer as we had here at 24 Degrees. Wishing each and every one of you a fantastic final quarter to 2016.

With the capacity to welcome more than 20,000 visitors per day, the destination features a unique array of adrenaline-pumping roller coasters, thrill rides, and attractions based on popular Cartoon Network characters, iconic Marvel Super Heroes and historic dinosaurs.

Wednesday, August 31st, 2016 was a night that goes down in the history books for the performing arts in Dubai, as the Dubai Opera held its very first performance. Offering a first glimpse at one of the most anticipated venues to open in the UAE’s history, a sold-out auditorium witnessed a breathtaking performance of arias and songs by the world-class tenor Plácido Domingo. The evening’s program was an amalgamation of classic opera including a trio of Verdi classics followed by more familiar orchestral pieces such as a medley from The Sound Of Music, South Pacific, and My Fair Lady. The show was an absolute hit based off of the four encores, many standing ovations, and hundreds of rave reviews.

Set to host an incredible range of world-class talent already, Dubai Opera can seat up to 2,000 people for opera, theatre, concerts, art exhibitions, orchestra, film, sports events and seasonal programs and is the centerpiece of The Opera District in downtown Dubai.

Construction has started on the first of its kind, Museum of the Future. With a motto “See the future, create the future,” the newly unveiled Museum of the Future will be an incubator for ideas, a driver for innovation, and a destination for inventors and entrepreneurs from around the world, said Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

In addition to becoming a major tourist destination, the Museum will offer advanced courses and specialized workshops, as well as public talks and events. It is intended to offer a platform to demonstrate and test the latest inventions and prototypes from up and coming start-ups to the world’s technology giants. It will also host innovation facilities and design studios with universities, companies, and research partners.

The building will be built in part using 3D printing technologies, and will change over time to test and reflect the latest advancements in various fields.

The final addition to the breathtaking Madinat Jumeirah, Jumeirah Al Naseem will be the 4th and final hotel to make up the mega property. Sitting between where Mina A’Salam currently sits and the bridge leading to Burj Al Arab, Al Naseem, which means “Sea Breeze”, will have 438 rooms including 43 suites. The contemporary interior design is inspired by sand dunes, blue skies, sea breeze and Dubai's heritage of pearl diving and Bedouin traditions. From their guestrooms, guests will have spectacular views of the sea, the resort's landscaped gardens and swimming pools and the world famous Burj Al Arab.

As with all hotels in Madinat Jumeirah, Al Naseem will have access to all of the facilities throughout the other 3 hotels, the souk, as well as the nearby Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Wild Wadi Waterpark.

No, that’s not a typo. Dubai’s newest taco tavern is a beloved Chinese import. Located down a nondescript, graffiti-clad alley in Lan Kwai Fong’s party district, Brickhouse Hong Kong has made a name for itself as one of the most frenzied but genuine Mexican dining experiences on the continent and it is now going to call Dubai home. While it may be lacking a dark alley setting, Brickhouse Dubai will be located in Al Manzil Souk in downtown Dubai, we and especially myself, have our sights on authentic Molcajete nachos, Mexican street corn and tacos galore.

Burj Al Arab will be adding another feather to its hat when two-star Nathan Outlaw will take over the reins at Al Mahara, the hotel’s signature seafood restaurant. If you have ever been before, you know the venue has a massive aquarium as its main attraction, but now, along with the change in chef, the venue will also have windows looking out to the Arabian Gulf and a terrace for outside dining.

Outlaw, who has been a two-star Michelin since 2011, will be transitioning Al Mahara’s menu away from the French influence it has had, and will be giving it a British twist.

Inspired by the American food truck stops, Last Exit is the first of its kind in the region and serves breakfast, lunch, dinner or simply, a snack on the way – 24/7. Located off Sheikh Zayed Road with convenient accesses and maximized visibility from Sheikh Zayed Road, it is just another amazing addition to the ever growing foodie Dubai scene.
